Pop It game

Pop It game

The Pop It button toy, which gained worldwide fame in 2021 during the lockdown, continues to be popular with children and adults. It allows you to escape from the daily routine and relieve stress, and by the principle of action is close to air-bubble packaging.

Only if the latter is disposable, then Pop It is a reusable product. The bubbles in it do not burst, but are squeezed out to the other side, after which the process is repeated, but in the opposite direction.

Pop It

History of creation and popularization

The invention of Pop It belongs to the designers Theo and Ore Koster from Israel. Their family company Theora Design produces a wide range of toys and board games: at the moment - about 200 varieties. These include the Pop It, which is made from silicone rubber. If this material had existed 50 years ago, Pop It would have appeared in 1974. It was then, according to Ora Koster, she came up with the idea of creating a reusable pimply toy that could captivate a child for a long time.

Delayed for a long time, the project was only launched in 2014. Despite Koster's expectations, he did not gain the popularity that one could have hoped for. Pop It toys were in low demand until the spring of 2021, when several videos with this toy “shot” on the social network TikTok.

One of them - with a monkey quickly pushing bubbles - scored a record 500 million views, and Pop It began to spread rapidly, first among children and teenagers, and subsequently among adults around the world.

Different from Simple Dimple

Many people confuse Pop It with the Simple Dimple toy, which is also equipped with extrudable bubbles. In fact, the difference between them is not great: Simple Dimple has a plastic body and fewer bubbles, usually from 2 to 6 pieces. A key ring may be present on the plastic case - to use the toy as a keychain.

Pop It, on the other hand, is made entirely of silicone rubber and is equipped with a large number of bubbles - up to 36. It is much larger than the Simple Dimple, and it is not as convenient to carry around. The shape of the toy can be anything: from a standard circle and rectangle, to a heart, strawberry, pineapple, apple.

Destination

Pop It, the world's most widespread toy, was originally intended for young preschool children. According to experts, it really is able to improve the motor skills and sensory integration of the child and teaches him to better understand tactile and visual signals. Pop It also affects the auditory receptors - when the bubbles are squeezed out ("pop") when pressed.

As useful as this toy is for young children, today its main "consumers" are teenagers aged 13 to 19. She is often seen in entertainment videos posted on TikTok, YouTube and other platforms.

There are even games/contests using Pop It. For example, two players roll a die and squeeze out the resulting number of bubbles. The one who did not have enough “pimples” to squeeze out loses. And subscribers of many TikTok channels can count on bonuses and gifts if they guess under which Pop It bubble the blogger hid the ball.

Interesting facts

  • Pop It owes its success to the TikTok platform. If videos with millions of views had not appeared on it in 2021, this toy would most likely have remained unclaimed.
  • Statistics show that the vast majority of Pop It buyers are women between the ages of 35 and 44. This does not mean that they use the toys themselves. Shopping is most likely made for children.
  • During the Pop It boom in 2021, a major US retailer made $35,000 a month selling bubble toys alone. At the same time, the cost of each of them averaged only 5-8 dollars.

Don't overestimate the benefits and possibilities of Pop It. In fact, this is a very simple and uncomplicated toy. But this is its advantage - the ability to be distracted at any time by the thoughtless pressing of bubbles. And if in children this process develops motor skills and sensory skills, then it gives adults the opportunity to clear their minds, get distracted and relieve accumulated stress.

How to play Pop It

How to play Pop It

Pop It is an effective anti-stress toy that helps calm your nerves and distract you from everyday problems. It is enough to press the bubbles for a couple of minutes to clear your mind of unnecessary information and reduce stress.

Pop It is a good way to relax and switch your brain, but there are other effective ways that are worth talking about in more detail.

How to unload your head and clear your mind

The Pop It toy is not in vain so popular among children and adults. For a huge number of people, the problem of overstrain remains relevant, especially for those who are engaged in creativity and mental work. Pop It allows the brain to be distracted by a simple and understandable activity - squeezing bubbles, which leads to relaxation and rest of the psyche.

How else to unload the brain:

  • Do not keep more than one obligation in mind. The brain is designed so that all outstanding tasks "hang in the tray" and take up our "RAM". Therefore, tasks must be set and completed in turn - starting the next one only after the end of the previous one.
  • Completely complete things. 90% written text or 80% wallpaper pasted are unfinished business that “loads” the brain. You can remove the load only by completing them 100%, after which you will be able to fully relax and work productively. And if you leave everything as it is, the process of procrastination will start, from which it will be very difficult to get out later.
  • Set priorities. At the top of the list should be the most difficult task, which will take a lot of effort and energy. Concentrate completely on it and discard everything superfluous - until it is 100% completed. This will take many times less effort than if you stretch out the work and put it off “for later”.
  • Put off the most difficult tasks. If you feel that your brain is not capable of solving the upcoming task right now, it is better to put it aside and completely remove it from consciousness / memory for a few days (or longer). Subsequently, it will be possible to return to it, but at the moment - the main thing is that it does not “load” the brain and does not take away your strength.
  • Learn not to worry about what you have done. Many people make the mistake of "negotiating" with themselves, for example - "when I finish work, I will afford new purchases." As a result, the work is not completed, the promise is not kept, and the person feels guilty towards himself. To prevent this from happening, learn to take things easier, not make any promises to yourself and not worry about the failure of certain plans.
  • Plan ahead of time. Waiting to see the dentist is much scarier than the actual dental procedure itself. The same goes for pleasure. If you plan them in advance and dream about them for a long time, this will become a powerful source of positive emotions. The brain will be motivated to finish the work quickly and finally move on to the pleasant things that are already planned.
  • Assess your capabilities in advance. One of the main reasons for overstraining the brain is too many plans and tasks that you take upon yourself with an incorrect assessment of your strengths and capabilities. Learn to say “no” to everyone who takes up your time and make to-do lists in advance so that you can cross off the excess or increase the deadlines for them.
  • Don't overdo it with multitasking. The human and most animal brains are multitasking and able to monitor/control multiple processes at the same time. For example, writing a report and listening to the radio, or cooking and watching TV. But in the case of heavy tasks that require concentration, it is better not to overuse multitasking, and devote yourself completely to any one process.
  • Go into your own thoughts. If your job involves communicating with colleagues, you need to disconnect from them and withdraw into yourself from time to time. This will temporarily stop the process of "absorption" of other people's thoughts and help the brain synchronize the work of consciousness and subconsciousness. If this is not done, you can “dissolve” in the team and lose the ability to think creatively and generate ideas.
  • Relax before the hard stuff. The brain needs to be properly rested before getting to the hard work. Free him from everything superfluous and devote time to rest and entertainment.

Scientists have proven that the human brain constantly monitors unfinished business. Not only that, it triggers a process of self-criticism in cases where things are not completed or not done properly. Therefore, it is so important to always do the work 100% and be able to fully relax. And in order to get distracted and “unload” the brain for a while, you can resort to entertainment such as Pop It, which does not require tension and concentration.
